We are excited to announce the latest collaboration between Saguache County Tourism and the San Luis Valley Tourism Association: an experiential guidebook that highlights unique locations and experiences across the seven counties of the San Luis Valley. This 36-page guidebook, complete with a fold-out map, provides visitors with 50 unique locations in the San Luis Valley for photo challenges, sites to view our renown dark skies, as well as guidelines for responsible visitation. Copies of the printed guidebook are now available throughout the region at visitor centers, area businesses, and community centers.
Dark Skies: A Stargazer’s Paradise
One of the key features of the guidebook is its emphasis on the Dark Skies initiative. The San Luis Valley is renowned for its breathtaking night skies, offering some of the best stargazing opportunities in the country. The guidebook provides information on the best spots and times for observing celestial wonders, ensuring that visitors can immerse themselves in the awe-inspiring beauty of our night skies. Whether you're an amateur astronomer or just someone who loves a clear, star-filled sky, this guidebook will point you in the right direction.
The Million Dollar Shot: Capture the Valley’s Beauty
Photography enthusiasts of all levels will enjoy the Million Dollar Shot initiative highlighted in the guidebook. This initiative encourages visitors to capture their images through photo challenges designed to help fully appreciate the stunning landscapes, unique wildlife, and vibrant communities of the San Luis Valley. With tips on the best locations and times for photography, as well as guidelines for safety and respecting local environments, the guidebook serves as a resource for anyone looking to capture the perfect shot.
Do San Luis Valley Right: Visit Responsibly
At the heart of the guidebook is the Do San Luis Valley Right campaign, which emphasizes responsible visitor behaviors. This campaign is dedicated to preserving the natural beauty and cultural integrity of the San Luis Valley by educating visitors on how to minimize their impact. From staying on designated trails to respecting wildlife and local customs, the guidebook offers practical advice on how to enjoy the Valley responsibly and sustainably.
The guidebook was designed and managed by Ameille Warner of Dandelion Creative Services. With her expertise in tourism and marketing for small businesses in the San Luis Valley, Ms. Warner has created a visually appealing and informative guide that captures the essence of the region.
Printed earlier this year, the guidebook is now available at various locations throughout the San Luis Valley.
